Corinna Button

Corinna Button RE

 Painter Printmaker British, Born 1960

Corinna Button is a contemporary painter and printmaker often combining both elements in one piece of work. Inspired by German Expressionism the prints form the starting basis which is then built up with collage, fabrics and embossed paper and paints, the latter applied using printmakers tools such as scapers, squeegees and rollers. Her work explores the subject of people and their experiences, especially women. She portrays sometimes commonplace events which are charged with personal significance and meaning. Corinna is motivated by the desire to “Bring something to Light” through a process of layering and scraping back, building and excavating seeking to reveal something hidden beneath and compelling the viewer to look more closely.
