Simply download the application form below and pay your non refundable submission fee of £10 per work, maximum of 3 works per by the application deadline of 11:59pm 26th February.

If you do not receive an email from us about your application this means that sadly you have not been selected.


This exhibition is going to be curated, prestigious event. The directors of AKA contemporary will review your application and if you are lucky to be selected you will be notified by email on Saturday 2nd March. important information for your application.

These Terms and Conditions apply to your entry of one or more (maximum three) artworks into AKA contemporary’s Spring exhibition and the facilitation of the sale of your work(s) by AKA contemporary either during or after the exhibition. 


The Spring exhibition will take place at AKA contemporary (54a Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge, CB1 7AA) between Friday 15th March and Saturday 13th April 2024. 


Please read the Terms and Conditions carefully before completing your Application Form as together these will form the contract between you and AKA Fine Art Ltd. By returning your Application Form, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions. 


Eligibility 

  • You may submit work(s) to the exhibition if you are the artist or creator of the work and are aged over 18. 
  • A maximum of three works may be submitted per artist. 
  • Acceptable media: painting, sculpture, drawings, original prints. 
  • Works should be no larger than 60 cm in all dimensions.
  • If works are framed, the entire dimension of the work, including the frame, must be within the dimensions 60 x 60 cm. 


Submission Form and Fee

  • There is a non-refundable submission fee of £10 per work for standard entries.
  • When you return your form to us, your submission is only considered completed once the correct payment for your entry has been received. 
  • Your Application Form must be completed and submitted strictly in accordance with the instructions provided on the form and within these Terms and Conditions. Failure to do so will mean that any work submitted may be inadmissible and will be withdrawn from the selection process for the exhibition.


Selection

  • The Selection Committee is formed of members of the AKA contemporary team. 
  • Selectors’ decisions are final and we are unable to offer feedback. 
  • If selected works arrive damaged, with unacceptable framing, size discrepancies from the original submission, or not as per supplied image, these will be rejected. All rejected artworks will need to be collected from AKA contemporary by the artist at their expense. 
  • AKA contemporary reserves the right to withdraw a work from the exhibition if, for any reason, the work or any circumstances surrounding its display, appear to expose AKA contemporary to potential or actual damage to its reputation, risk of legal proceedings or enforcement including, without limitation, the alleged breach of third party intellectual property rights.


Presentation of Work(s)

  • All two-dimensional works submitted must be framed or suitably prepared for display hanging. Perspex clip frames are not acceptable. 
  • All artists are required to provide display fixings on the back of their work. 
  • AKA contemporary has the right to reject works that cannot withstand professional hanging.
  • For sculpture, you should not deliver display plinths for your work. Plinths will be provided by AKA contemporary for exhibited works. If your sculpture or model has specific display requirements, please contact us if the work has been selected.


Delivery and Collection of Works 

  • Artists are responsible for the full costs of the delivery and collection of their works. 
  • All works must be unpacked before they are handed over to the AKA contemporary team and all packaging must be taken away at the point of delivery. We are unable to wrap works or provide wrapping materials for any works being collected. 
  • If you are unable to deliver or collect your work in person, we cannot accept works that are delivered by commercial couriers e.g. Royal Mail/Evri/DHL/UPS etc. However, we can accept works delivered by specific art couriers as long as they are prepared to unwrap the works before they are handed to us.
  • Artists sending work from abroad should use a professional art carrier. 
  • AKA contemporary will provide selected artists with specific delivery and collection dates. Any works delivered outside of this will not be accepted. 
  • If any work has not been collected by the final collection date, AKA contemporary will charge a fee of £5 per day per work. This charge will be payable by the person collecting the work.
  • If the work has not been collected within three months of the final collection date, the work will be deemed to have been abandoned such that AKA contemporary shall be entitled, without notifying you, to sell or otherwise dispose of such work. 
  • No work that has been accepted and displayed at the exhibition may be removed prior to the close of the exhibition. 
  • If you are unable to deliver or collect your work in person, the following art couriers may be able to do so on your behalf (we do not accept any liability for their services):

Sales 

  • All work must be for sale. 
  • All prices stated on the Application Form must include AKA contemporary’s commission of 50%.
  • Once a work has been submitted, any sale made by the gallery before or during the course of the exhibition shall take precedence and supersede one made privately. 
  • Any private sale will incur the normal commission. 
  • The price provided is the selling price and is the price that the work must be sold at. 
  • This price can only be changed by prior written agreement between the gallery and the artist of the relevant work. The gallery reserves the right to query the price of works.


Liability and Indemnity

  • AKA contemporary is not responsible for any loss of, or any damage to, works entrusted to them. All goods are at the artist’s risk absolutely and the gallery and/or their agents exclude all liability to the maximum extent permitted by law. 
  • You must ensure that each submitted work conforms to all applicable health and safety standards and regulations. 
  • By submitting your work, you confirm that each work is in a condition to withstand the normal rigours of handling and display at AKA contemporary.



Spring 60s Exhibition Schedule 2024


Please note that dates may be subject to change. Selected artists will be notified of any changes made. 


  • Submission Open: 6:00pm 13th January 2024
  • Submission Closes: 11:59pm 26th February 2024.
  • Selection Results Announced: Saturday 2nd March 2024.
  • Artists not selected will not be notified. 
  • Delivery Dates: Selected artists will be invited to deliver on 8th or 9th March 2024. 
  • Private View: Friday 15th March from 6:00pm 
  • Exhibition Dates: Friday 15th March– Saturday 13th April 2024. 
  • Collection Dates:  Saturday from 13th April between 5pm and 6:00pm 15th-16th April 2024 between 11am and 5pm. 


We are now closed to new applications. Successful entrants will be informed on Saturday 2nd March. Please remember your submission fee is non refundable.
