Lillias August is a contemporary “Pop-Still Life” artist working with precision to detail in pencil and watercolour. Her captivating recent works form kitsch and intimate studies of ordinary things presented in an extraordinary way. Through her acute observational skills she explores a visual tale which goes beyond realism giving life and purpose to the superfluous. Lillias’s paintings are daringly ingenious as they beckon the viewer to examine a composition where something powerful is conveyed; lipsticks in a line, keys, mobile phones or knives can carry a sinister message or simply arrest the observer and take them out of their comfort zone.
